Merchant Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 July 2026

These terms govern the use of the Stip service by hospitality and retail businesses ('you', 'the merchant'). Stip is operated from Eindhoven, the Netherlands. By subscribing you agree to these terms.

1.The service

Stip provides digital receipts for your guests: physical Stip dots placed at your venue, a connection to your POS system, guest-facing receipt pages (including Split & Pay through Stripe Connect and Apple Wallet passes), and an owner dashboard.

The service depends on third parties (your POS provider, subscription and venue payment providers, Apple). We are not responsible for outages or changes in those services, but we will always work to restore integrations promptly.

2.Subscription & billing

Stip is billed monthly per location via Stripe at the price shown at checkout (excl. VAT). Your first 30 days are free; you can cancel at any time through your billing portal, effective at the end of the billing period.

3.Hardware

Stip dots included in your subscription remain the property of Stip and must be returned or destroyed on termination. Separately purchased hardware is governed by the Hardware Order Terms.

4.Your obligations

You keep control of your POS account and authorize Stip to receive sales data for the purpose of generating receipts. You place dots only in your own venue, keep your account credentials confidential, and don't use the service for anything unlawful.

5.Guest data & privacy

Stip does not require guests to create accounts. A guest may optionally add a short display label so staff can recognise their verified share; it is not required, is not linked across visits, and is deleted after the short service window. Stripe processes payment credentials and venue KYC/IBAN; Stip does not store them. A share is marked paid only after a signature-verified Stripe event. Receipt data (items, amounts, table, timestamps) is processed on your behalf to deliver the service. See the Privacy Policy.

Where Stip processes personal data on your behalf, a data-processing agreement applies (available on request; required before accounting-export features are enabled).

6.Availability & support

We target high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Support is provided by e-mail; during your pilot period we provide direct support contact.

7.Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law, Stip's total liability under these terms is limited to the subscription fees you paid in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Stip is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or the accuracy of data supplied by your POS system.

8.Termination

Either party may terminate with effect from the end of the current billing period. We may suspend the service on non-payment (after Stripe's dunning process) or material breach.

9.Changes & governing law

We may update these terms with 30 days' notice by e-mail. Dutch law applies; disputes go to the competent court of Oost-Brabant, the Netherlands.
